10-11-2020 4th Annual Sowing Seeds Children's Festival and Food Drive

Description: Sunday October 11th from 1-4pm

This year will look a little different in response to Covid-19. We will have a tent set up for you to drive by and drop off non-perishable items to be
donated to the WSFC Schools Food Pantry. We will be following safety protocols, wearing masks, and social distancing.

We will be there rain or shine!! Our community needs food donations no matter the weather! Please come help us help them!

All food drive-by donations will go to the Food for Thought Pantry. The pantry is housed in the WSFCS Social Work Office downtown at City Market. It is supported through generous contributions from Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and other local community partners and individuals. The pantry serves any one of our 55,000 students who may be experiencing food insecurity. Social workers receive referrals and assess the need before taking food to their home. With over half of our 55,000 children qualifying for free and reduced lunch there is an enormous need in our community. Many children rely on school breakfasts and lunches each school day, but are still in need of food in the evening and on weekends. Providing children with these basic needs allows them to have a better chance at succeeding in school as well as leading healthier and happier lives. The recent pandemic has created even more challenges for families who are struggling with lost wages and homes. The need to feed children and families has never been greater. We greatly appreciate the support that so many have provided to keep this pantry stocked and ready to help those in need. No one should go hungry.
Checks may be written to The Lynne H. Berry School Buddies Fund and can sent to: WS/FCS Social Work Dept. 601 N. Cherry St, Suite 300, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
