Biography

Artist Bio:
I have been a natural artist since I was old enough to pick up a paint brush. I began art lessons at four years old and won my first competition by age five. I have acquired my art skills through many art teachers, working with other artists, and through my own exploration and hands on experience in the arts. I have enjoyed teaching adults and children in various mediums. I work in multiple mediums and I am always interested in trying out new things. Art and design are second nature to me and have always been a part of my life.

Curated monthly shows with featured artists. I have taught a variety of art classes to adults and children as part of this business when I was in NH.

1978-Present
INDEPENDENT ARTIST/MURALIST/CONSULTANT
I have painted numerous murals over the years from small images in small spaces to larger mural walls, and some 360 degree murals filling rooms. I began painting murals (just for fun) in my high school hallways, for formal events, and I also designed and painted stage backdrops for the theater department. I progressed to painting for family, friends, and then clients in their homes. I have painted large pieces mounted to walls. In 2018 I redesigned the lobby and game room of the Reidsville Teen Center (with bold graphics and murals), and I did the new public mural in downtown Reidsville, NC called “Greetings From Reidsville” (43’ x 16’ in a postcard format with contemporary bold colors and 3d design). Plans for more murals are in process.

2010-Present
UNSCHOOL ART TEACHER / ARTS & DESIGN FOCUS
I teach art privately to my son Riley Ryan who is now a teenager. In the past we included other children in my art, design, and building workshops. Lessons included hands on work with every imaginable medium. I taught Riley digital art with the Adobe Illustrator program and Photoshop. Riley has since become adept at more advanced programs such as Sketch Up and Blender. Today Riley has become a skilled design partner to me in working out my mural design ideas in digital format before the painting begins, allowing my clients to partake in the planning process. Using my finalized designs, Riley creates 3d walk-through virtual reality videos in Blender to demonstrate what the design proposals will look like upon completion. The digital process saves time and money and helps me to avoid costly mistakes. We make a great team and have happy clients.

Artists Statement

I work through an empathic process as an artist. All elements of the Universe are designed to work in unison and cooperation for peace, serenity, and the joy of ALL. Only with equality and respect for one another can this kind of world exist on our planet Earth. Releasing dogmatic thinking, conflict, and the mentality of duality results in the ability to reach the understanding that we are all part of the one Divine & Sacred ALL: equal, beautiful, and precious. Separation, competition, and conflict does not serve any aspect of our existence. Growing together through kindness, consideration, empathy, and love is the ultimate spiritual task of humanity, and it is our most high expression. Within my art are images, symbols, and concepts of these: mysticism, magic, the sacred, wisdom, and spirituality, as well as joyful imagery from the other-world of the imagination. I enjoy the inspiration of a very playful muse who loves to express all these things, and has a passion for color. I am compelled to offer a glimpse of the joyful, mystical life in everything I create, and through a variety of mediums.
