passion for journaling the world around me through photography and words drives me to snap the shots and jot the thoughts that materialize on my visual and mental canvasses.
Nature, architecture, light, reflections, and especially water…el agua…are the subjects that command my attention, take up residence on my SD cards, and preside within my frames. Moments that afford me the opportunity to photograph a natural combination of two or more of the five subjects can keep me enthralled far past the normal level of my patience meter.
I find that there is more in water than just moisture. There is fluidity, stillness, depth and width, shape-shifting, reflection, movement, creativity, and life. Water is never the same and always different.
If you attempt to take my photo, I will beg off with the words…I’m in the witness protection plan and you’re trying to blow my cover. Behind the camera is where you’ll find me…I’m an introvert at heart.
Since childhood, I have been drawn to cameras…a white and black Swinger was my first box and there have been many in between the first and my current Nikon D7100.
I am mainly self-taught but truly desire a mentorship for growth through honest critiquing and tutelage by a professional photographer.
My hope is that my photos will hook an observer’s attention and tilt them towards imagining, interpreting, and enjoying what they discover in my art.
Participation in the August 2018 GreenHill Center for NC Open NC Art Review program afforded me the opportunity to present 15 images in a Pecha Kucha format and receive feedback from GreenHill Director of Curatorial & Artistic Programs Edie Carpenter and other arts professionals. As a result of an individual review with Ms. Carpenter, I have been invited to exhibit in Winter Show 2019. I am currently developing
