Type of Work: Surrealism (Traditional/Digital)
I try in my work to catch the liminal moments–the faces and shapes you'll see in dreams but which make no sense in waking life, try to capture the hazy, unreal feeling of dissociation that will otherwise just pop up and pass you by in your day-to-day life. I make use of stark contrast, bold colors, and uncanny compositions to create pieces that make you feel like you're stuck in a waking dream. I allow ink to bleed into paper as I work, adding an improvisational aspect to my process, and I exaggerate human features to illustrate existential states that wouldn't otherwise be visible. I try with my work to remind people that their internal states are valid and shared.
