Biography

Trog Agog works are modern primitive jewelry with African, Mayan, Aztec and other ancient civilizations influence present. All beads are created with paper but are surprisingly hard and durable, and every piece was created in prison, under conditions not conducive to creativity. In fact many were confiscated and destroyed. The pieces here on exhibit were smuggled out of prison in hollowed out solanders (books with cutaways inside), and this was done with the full intention of someday exhibiting the works.
I was born in Winston-Salem and have long been involved in the arts: music, puppetry, fiction writing, and decorative and faux painting. I ran a successful painting venture here in the 90s called Renaissance Painting, and was also a local musician of note with the Brothers Grim and the Deadbeats. I worked for years in Atlanta, Georgia at the Center For Puppetry Arts as a puppeteer, and traveled with national tours. In the early 80s I helped establish the Experimental Puppet Theater (XPT) out of the CFPA, and performed briefly with the world renowned Bread & Puppet Theater out of Vermont.
