Biography
Originally from Virginia, I am a self-taught woodworker who began building small furniture pieces in 1985.After taking a bowl turning class in 2005,I now design and turn segmented bowls and vessels. The style "segmented turning" involves the cutting, fitting and gluing together of many individual pieces of wood before turning on the lathe. The style is very labor intensive and no two pieces are quite the same. Cherry, walnut, poplar, oak and mahogany are many of the woods that I use. Before relocating to the Winston area,my work has been displayed in local galleries and at local art shows in and around the northern Outer Banks of N.C.
