A Bane Hurst was born in Southwest Virginia and moved as a youth to central North Carolina. Always inclined to draw, A Bane made his first oil painting at 12 years of age. From the University of North Carolina he received a BFA with a concentration in painting. Early in his career A Bane sold pastel portraits and landscapes through ERL Originals and then exhibited at West End Art Gallery, both having been in Winston-Salem,NC. Now he primarily focuses on figurative work and portraits. AB currently lives in Winston-Salem with his wife and two children. A Bane Hurst draws inspiration from historically relevant artist such as Velazquez, Dali, Magritte, Sargent.
