Biography
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work breaks away from traditional ideas of composition and design by using the figure in ways that feel both tense and playful. I combine styles such as Neo-Expressionism and Cubism to create paintings that reflect abstract views of modern life, culture, and entertainment. The figures I depict often come from media, popular culture, twisted characters, familiar faces, or imagined personalities. These figures are more than visual motifs; they come from a personal place and help me make sense of the world around me.
Through bold colors, strong lines, and distorted forms, I create work that feels raw, direct, and emotionally charged. I explore how culture, identity, and emotion connect and clash in everyday life. My goal is not simply to represent what I see but to offer a different way of looking at the world, filtered through my own experience and perspective.
Artist BIO
I grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, where I had little exposure to art as a child but found myself constantly drawn to sketching as a way to make sense of the world around me. Despite not having access to formal artistic training or resources early on, my passion for creating was a constant, often coming at the expense of traditional academics and resulting in poor grades. It was through this artistic impulse that I began exploring my identity.
When I moved to the United States for my studies, I finally decided to take my art seriously. Being in a new environment made me realize that art was the best way for me to understand myself and the world around me. Now, as a multidisciplinary artist, I work with painting, Mixed Media, Digital Art, and Animation to explore the human figure and the ways our bodies, emotions, and culture connect with each other.
